Gerard was born in New Jersey and was always a little weird as a kid. He was more obsessed than scared with the monsters under the bed and in his closet. He grew up wishing he was a vampire or a zombie, not a cop or a doctor. That kind of behavior didn't sit well with his mother, so she decided to send him to a Catholic boarding school a couple of towns over, hoping that they would be able to 'set him straight'.
That just sent him further into the world he'd created in his head. He was always the odd kid out, the one the other little cookie cutter kids mocked. It usually didn't bother him too much; he liked being weird and strange. He didn't want to be like them. Gerard marched to his own beat, to the music he heard in his head. He only caved about one little thing...that turned out to be their downfall. Sometimes Karma really is a bitch.
The gym teacher told Gerard that he needed to play a sport in order to graduate...so Gerard found what he felt like was one of the weirdest sport ever. Croquet.
But years of taunts and abuse build up, no matter how immune a person thinks that they are. And eventually...they need a way out.
It was during his third period gym class that Gerard Way snapped.
He used his croquet mallet to send thirteen of his classmates to either the hospital or the morgue before he was restrained.
When they were trying to decide if he was competent enough to stand trail, someone noticed that something wasn't quite right with the boy.
He was obsessed with the ideas of revenge and demolition lovers and something he only referred to as "The Black Parade". They sent him for several mental evaluations and were startled to discover that he felt perfectly justified in what he'd done. There no remorse or pity or even sympathy. He'd looked one of the parents of the first kid he'd nailed with his mallet in the eye and told her that her son 'Got what he deserved. He got what everyone else got. He got a lifetime." And then he'd leaned back and smirked at her.
The only people that ever just let Gerard be Gerard were his grandmother Elena and his little brother. He's very very attached to Elena and talks about her like she's a god in his eyes. And she is. She taught him how to sing and paint and just be okay with being himself. Anything that's good in him...its there because of Elena and Mikey.
That was how he ended up Rainy Days. He tends to avoid the doctors and staff as much as he can since he feels like there's nothing wrong with him. He's also very standoffish and he doesn't really trust anyone. He's suspicious of people's motives and loves to just make up things and tell people about 'stories' that happened just to see how they react.
Most people are just like interesting bugs to him and he wants to know what makes them tick. What makes him so different from everyone else.
